How We Monitor and Manage Your Microsoft 365: Meet Augmentt

Behind every healthy Microsoft 365 environment is a set of tools keeping watch around the clock. We use Augmentt — a platform built specifically for managing and securing Microsoft 365 across multiple clients — and here is exactly what it does for you.

Transparency matters to us. When we tell you that your Microsoft 365 environment is secure and running well, we want you to understand what sits behind that assurance. One of the core platforms we rely on is Augmentt — a Microsoft 365 security and management tool built specifically for managed service providers like us, and one of the reasons we are able to catch problems before they affect your business.

What Augmentt is

Augmentt is a multi-tenant Microsoft 365 management platform. In plain terms: it gives us a single screen showing all our clients' Microsoft 365 environments simultaneously, with the ability to apply security policies, detect issues, and take action across all of them from one place.

Without a tool like this, managing Microsoft 365 security across multiple clients would require logging into each tenant individually, running manual checks, and comparing reports by hand. Augmentt automates this, which means we catch things faster — and you benefit whether or not you ever notice something went wrong.

The four main modules and what they do for you

Secure Autopilot — Security baseline and drift detection

Secure Autopilot is the centrepiece of how we manage Microsoft 365 security. We set a security baseline — the correct configuration for MFA, Conditional Access policies, email security, and other controls — once, and Augmentt pushes and enforces it across your tenant automatically.

If anything drifts away from that baseline — a policy is accidentally changed, a new user is created without MFA, a security setting is modified — Augmentt detects it and alerts us immediately. We can remediate many issues automatically, before you are even aware they existed.

Engage Autopilot — User management and licensing

Every time a new staff member joins your business or someone leaves, there is a set of Microsoft 365 tasks that need to happen quickly and accurately. Engage Autopilot gives our team a streamlined workflow for onboarding and offboarding — creating accounts, assigning licences, applying the right policies, and locking down departing users' access.

It also gives us full visibility of your licence usage, so we can flag unused licences and help you avoid paying for seats you no longer need.

Intune Autopilot — Device and endpoint policy management

Microsoft Intune controls how devices are configured — which apps are allowed, how data is protected, whether devices must be encrypted, and dozens of other settings that determine whether your endpoints are a security risk or a security asset.

Intune Autopilot lets us manage Intune and Microsoft Defender policies across your environment efficiently, ensuring your devices stay compliant and that Defender settings are applied correctly — particularly important as Microsoft transitions more security functions to Defender for Business.

Discover — Shadow IT and SaaS visibility

Staff often connect third-party apps and services to Microsoft 365 without IT involvement — cloud storage, project tools, AI apps, and many others. Each connected app is a potential data exposure or compliance risk, particularly under POPIA, which requires you to know where your data is going.

Discover surfaces these shadow IT applications, showing us exactly what is connected to your Microsoft 365 environment, what permissions those apps have, and which ones represent risk. We can review and revoke access where appropriate.

Microsoft Secure Score: your security benchmark

One of the most useful things Augmentt surfaces is your Microsoft Secure Score — a number between 0 and 100 that Microsoft calculates based on how well your environment follows their security recommendations. A higher score means a better-configured, more resilient environment.

We use Augmentt to track Secure Score trends across your tenant over time. If something causes your score to drop — a policy change, a new gap, a misconfiguration — we see it. We include this as part of our regular reporting so you have a tangible, objective measure of your Microsoft 365 security posture.

Real-time threat alerts

Augmentt Alerts monitors your Microsoft 365 environment for security events that indicate a potential threat — suspicious sign-in activity, impossible travel detections (a login from Cape Town followed seconds later by one from Eastern Europe), new admin role assignments, and dozens of other indicators.

When an alert fires, we investigate. Many threats are caught and contained at this stage — before they escalate to a breach. This is the “24/7 monitoring” we promise in our managed service, and Augmentt is a core part of how we deliver it.

What this means for you in practice

You do not need to know how Augmentt works to benefit from it. It runs quietly in the background, keeping your Microsoft 365 environment aligned with the security baseline we have set, catching drift and threats, and giving us the visibility to manage your environment properly. What you notice is fewer security incidents, a well-configured Microsoft 365, and a team that flags issues before you have to.
